Born to celebrate Bergamo's great composer Gaetano Donizetti, Donizetti Festival Opera is actually held during the period of Donizetti’s birthday and puts on stage some of his most famous Operas.
In 2020 the Festival will open with one of the most important and world renowned artists: Placido Domingo who will be on stage as Belisario. Other great names such as Alex Esposito and Davinia Rodriguez will take part to the Festival and, as every year, it will be an excellent event with top perfomers.
Mr. Riccardo Frizza as the music director, the opening of the restored Donizetti Theatre and great international names make this Festival one of the most attractive events of the Opera landscape. In 2020 Belisario, La fille du régiment and Marino Faliero (at Teatro Donizetti), L’amor Coniugale e Nozze in Villa (at Teatro Sociale), have been selected to be performed among the so many Operas composed by Donizetti.
